Okay, it’s probably a typo (Wikipedia assures me that DC’s Legion of Super-Heroes is from the 30th Century) but everything else about this extra from Superman Annual #4 is very informative, especially for someone like me who grew up reading mostly Marvel books (where one might win a no-prize for correcting such a millennial flub).

That is no typo; when the LSH was first introduced, they indeed hailed from the far-flung 21st Century. As contemporary science advanced, the date was steadily and aggressively pushed ahead, until DC made the (brilliant!) editorial decision that every Legion story takes place exactly one thousand years in the future from its date of publication.

Thanks for that, UA! That was my original assumption but I couldn’t find anything that supported it.
No problem! The LSH abandoned the 21st Century quickly; I briefly tried finding you a link, but have no proof on hand other than the earliest stories in the first volume of their Showcase Presents.
